SINGLE FINS.

If you’re heading to Indo or any sort of heavier break setup, and wanting something that’s going to handle some more juice and steeper walls, then look no further than one of our tried and tested Single Fin designs.

Hutcho “cut his teeth” on the classic Single Fin design in the early 70’s, shaping thousands of them under his iconic “Hutchinson Surfboards” label in both Brookvale and in Brooklet, where he still resides today.
Anyone who had one of these early Single Fins will always round fond memories of the board and the sessions it provided. Keen history buffs will also know that it was Paul who was shaping all Steve Cooney’s boards during the Morning of the Earth era, and Paul was indeed front and centre with the crew when they made that legendary first trip out to Uluwatu. *Insiders tip, he is the one imitating the smoking of the chillums in the cave during the film.

We offer a few different types of these 70’s style Single Fins, now with the modern tweaks required so they are a lot easier to ride than the originals!
We offer a full pintail version, that’s quite close to the originals of the time, for the rider looking for a truly unique experience in riding what was considered state of the art over 50 years ago.
We also do a slightly modernised version of this same board with a rounded pintail, for the rider wanting a little more versatility to be able to surf a wider variety of waves. I find this one to be the absolute sweet spot in the range.
Another version is modernised yet again with a swallow tail and single flyer added to gain some more manoeuvrability when surfing off the tail, still keeping the beaked nose and fuller down rail to make it a paddling machine.
Our 4th version is the most modern out of all with serious Lopez influence packed into this design. Down rails running from the beaked nose into a little more edge through the middle into the tail. And a slight concave within the entry, just to help the board lift in the nose at that crucial moment when about to drop in. Also helps when in the tube and wanting to ride a little more forward aka MP or Buttons, gain speed when surfing closer to the nose in the tube. All this running through to a light single to double concave through the fins and a light vee out the tail, this board will not let you down when called upon.
Lastly we have a Big Wave Single Fin that is made purely for the rider looking for as pure big wave surfing experience as you can have. Ask anyone who’s spent serious time on the North Shore of Hawaii, surfing Wiamea Bay or Sunset, and they will tell you that a single fin is the best setup for these spots. This board will have you confident in any lineup and may even get you the wave of your life, it’s truly up to you.

All come standard with a single fin box, but certain designs will also handle side bites.

Available in lengths from 6’6″ to 9’0″.
